On the apparent southward relative motion of the sun, it is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka during till the 07th of September.
The nearest towns of Sri Lanka over which the sun is overhead today are Kandavalal, Nallur and Palaitivu.
Director of the MET Department Lalith Chandrapala stated that the sun is positioned directly over Sri Lanka twice a year.
Meanwhile, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board has to provide drinking water to Jaffna, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Polonnaruwa and Ampara districts due to the prevalent dry weather conditions.
