An army major has been arrested on suspicion in connection to an accident that occurred along the Habarana – Kantale Main Road.
Police stated that the accident had occurred when a
motor vehicle collided with three motorcycles that were travelling on
the left side of the road.
A father, son, daughter and another individual who
had been travelling on the motorcycles were injured in the accident and
were admitted to the Dambulla Hospital.
The father injured in the accident had later
succumbed to his injuries. He was a 33-year old resident of the
Hatharaskotuwa area in Galoya.
The driver of the motor vehicle involved in the
accident, who was identified as an army kmajor is to be produced before
the Hingurakgoda Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
