The University of Moratuwa is to unveil an unmanned craft aimed at seeking natural resources and secrets of water bodies including rivers and lakes, Prof. Rohan Munasinghe of the university's Department of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering says.
Sending in underwater video footage and images, the craft would enable to hold a clear and successful analysis of these water bodies, inclusive of many factors such as the PH state of the water, aquatic beings and natural resources.
The craft is also to be tested in the sea to analyse the corals.
The craft is able to travel a maximum distance of 50 metres and 10 feet deep under water. According to reports, the first phase is said to be highly successful.
Under the guidance and supervision of Prof. Minasinghe, the craft was created by students Edirisuriya, Fahim Jalaldeen and Dumindu Kaumadi Dharmadasa with the assistance of Lecturer Dr. Wimalasiri.
